Services



The services provided by Welfare Management Unit are:

  1. KHAIRAT TRUST FUND.
    • Khairat and Financial Assistance
      • To assist students who are in dire need of financial assistance and who face difficulties while studying in IIUM. Refer new guideline as attached.
    • B40 Student Database
      • The purpose of this B40 Student database is to identify those who are needy and to assist (whenever possible). In addition to that, when the data, is available easy to give to other offices (such as International Office, Alumni, IIUM Endowment Fund and other donors) who request names of the underprivileged students. All IIUM students with family household income less than RM 4,000 may fill up the B40 form and submit to STADD.
    • Student Employment On Campus (SEOC)
      • The objectives of the programme is to open more opportunity to the needy students and students with disabilities to receive financial assistance from the University, to train the students to work in campus (besides the Student Assistantship Programme) and to assist K/C/D/I/O that needs part time students with their work projects for a short term period. SEOC Form, Claim Form.
      • The criteria of student is as below:
        • Undergraduates:
          1. Registered subjects during the time of appointment
          2. Needy students (B40)
          3. First year second semester onwards
          4. Minimum CGPA should be 2.5 and above
          5. Student with disability is also encouraged to work under this scheme
        • Postgraduates:
          1. Registered (subject/proposal /research) during the time of appointment and working
          2. Needy students (B40)
          3. First year and second semester onwards
          4. Latest CGPA not less than 3.0 for coursework and mixed-mode. If doing proposal/research latest result must be “In Progress” or “Pass”. Student with disability is also encouraged to work under this scheme.
      • Guidelines: 1) Request SEOC 2) SOP

2. HANDLING EMERGENCY CASES

  • Sick Students and Hospitalised. Visit Form
  • Coordinate and Manage Death of Student. Work together with the Principal, Deputy Dean (SDCE) of Kulliyyah, IIUM Health & Wellness Centre, International Office (for International students), Office of Security Management, SHAS Mosque and others.

3. INSURANCE COVERAGE AND CLAIMS

Insurance Coverage and Claims for IIUM students (Malaysian and International students).

  • IIUM Malaysian students - Group Personal Accident (GPA) only. All IIUM Malaysian students are insured under the Group Personal  Accident Insurance by Etiqa General Takaful Berhad. Insurance will be paid to students for cases such as bodily injury and death caused by accidental means. The benefits of coverage are as attached
  • IIUM Internation students.
    All IIUM International students are insured under Etiqa Takaful Berhad. This scheme is compulsory to all international students who are studying in Malaysian University as instructed by the Ministry of Education. The benefits of coverage are:
    1. Group Personal Accident (GPA)
    2. Group Term Life (GTL)
    3. Group Hospital and Surgical (GHS) - Third Party Administrator: Mediexpress (M) Sdn. Bhd.  

4. MAHABBAH FOOD PROGRAMME

  • Food coupons:
    • To assist B40 and needy students in a form of coupons.  These coupons can be used at all registered cafeteria on Gombak Campus.


  • Food served (packed/buffet):
    • Initiative by IIUM SHAS Mosque and Student Kitchen Project for needy students. The schedule of distribution:


      • IIUM SHAS Mosque (Lunch-Packed food- Monday to Thursday)
      • Student Kitchen Project (SKP): IRKHSSS (Dinner-Monday until Friday)


  • Food bank 
    • In collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) and Food Bank Malaysia
    • A choice for the students to go for healthy snacks besides the current food coupons, student kitchen project and SHAS Mosque packed food.
    • To support the IIUM Sustainable Development Goals i.e. Zero Hunger by helping the needy students.


5. STUDENT ASSISTANCESHIP PROGRAMME (SAP) / SCHEME OF APPRENTICE FOR GRADUATE ASSISTANTS

Students can obtain information pertaining to part-time employment on campus through advertisement at K/C/D/I/O.

  2. Waqaf Time

The objective of this programme is to inculcate within IIUM students the concept of Budi (virtue) for ummatic vision, the culture of ‘waqaf’ among our students.  Not only ‘waqaf’ in terms of material but also ‘waqaf’ in terms of time, energy and expertise and to produce IIUM students with holistic or versatile personality.
