ORGANISATIONAL CHART



OVERVIEW

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM is formed out following the establishment of Kulliyah of ICT as approved by the Ministry of Education on 19th of September 2001. The initial intake into the Programme of ICT in the Centre was in Semester I of the 2002/2003 Session, which commenced on the 4th of June 2002. The programme is accredited by Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA). This programme functions as a preparatory platform to provide the knowledge and skills in the field of ICT. The students who have completed the ICT Programme can join the Kulliyyah of ICT at the Gombak Campus. The programme is designed to suit the need of the Kulliyyah of ICT. The programme will expose students with elementary computing skills sufficient to enable them to use the technology effectively.


OBJECTIVES

  • To prepare the candidates for admission into the bachelor degree programmes at Kuliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT), IIUM, Gombak
  • To provide the candidates with knowledge and skills which are required in ICT field

   

COURSES OFFERED

  • ICT0513 – BASIC APPLICATION OF ICT

This course introduces the students to computer literacy and state-of-the-art technologies available in all computer areas. The areas include hardware, software, communications, networks and Internet as well as ethical and social issues. In the lab, students are expose to hands-on exercises on web development tools and spreadsheet application.

 

  • ICT0525- INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAMMING

This course introduces the students to software development life cycle and basic knowledge in C programming.
