Professional Nursing Studies

The Department of Professional Nursing Studies is passionate to support Kulliyyah’s vision and mission in preparing nurses for the demand and growing diverse global market for the SIX (6) different disciplines (Nursing Education, Nursing Theories, Nursing Management, Transcultural Nursing, Ethics & Law in Nursing, and Health Informatics). We currently have seven department members specialising in nursing education, patient education, nursing management, psychology in nursing, Islamic ethics in nursing, and statistical modelling that are involved in teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate (Master and PhD) students to fulfil the mission of IIUM. We also collaborate with other universities, hospitals, NGOs, and community members to promote overall wellbeing and improve healthcare. The Department also in the stage of preparing the Master of Nursing Science in specialisation areas (Clinical Education, Health Informatics, Infection control, and Nursing Management and Leadership) that in line with the Sustainable Development Goal and Sejahtera Academic Framework that provides quality educational opportunities that focus on holistic professional development among nurses to serve high quality of care for the Ummah.

Inculcation of Fiqh Rukhsah of Prayer in Nursing Practice (Theory & Practicum)

Event: Visit to Infection Control Unit at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) 

Six students undertaking the subject Discovery of Sub-Specialization (Infection Control) had visited Infection Control Unit at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) as part of their curricular activities. 

The objectives of this visit are to:

  1. Provide the students with the knowledge and skill related to infection prevention and control in healthcare practices.
  2. Develop students' ability and confidence in dealing with complex health situations.

The students were supervised by Sr Meriati and Dr Wan Hasliza.

Event: Jabatan kesihatan Negeri Pahang (JKNP) at Indera Mahkota 

Six students undertaking the subject Discovery of Sub-Specialization (Patient Education) had visited Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pahang (JKNP) at Indera Mahkota as part of their curricular activities.

The objectives of this visit were to:

  1. Expose the students to relevant information that initiate patient education program at different level which involves the individual, family and society.
  2. To create awareness among the students on the importance of disseminating health information using valid and reliable teaching materials.

The students were supervised by Dr Siti Noor Khairina and Dr Firdaus Ismail.
