Introduction

Introduction Debating had always been the niche area for CFS IIUM. The initial intention was to promote the use of English and Arabic. The main function of IWON is to assists the students of CFS IIUM to participate in various national and international debating and public speaking competitions including: Royal Malaysian Intervarsity Debating Championship, Asian Intervarsity Debating Championship, and Australasian Intervarsity Debating Championship It is also formed to organise internal debating competitions for the IIUM students like the Rector’s Cup and Dean’s Cup, and occasional friendly tournament. It also provides training for debaters and adjudicators from different institutions nationwide and also to the universities in the neighbouring countries.

IWON Mission Statement

To enhance CFS IIUM students’ communication skills that are coupled with and complemented by a culture of knowledge-seeking and critical thinking.

Objectives

• To assist CFSIIUM students to participate in various national and international debating and public speaking competitions.
• To organise and oversee debating and public speaking activities in CFSIIUM.

IWON Programmes

IWON gives focus on preparing students for various local and international tournaments. However, a number of internal programmes are also regularly conducted with the assistance of CFS Orators, among others;
