Kuala Lumpur - – This year has started on the right foot when the International Institute of Islamic Civilization and Malay World (ISTAC) organized a triple-launch event situated at the ISTAC, IIUM Kuala Lumpur Campus.

This event was launched by the Rector of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.

The three-in-one event consists of a book launch, whereby the book is entitled ‘Syakh Ahamadou Bamba: A Peacemaker of Our Time’ by Ms. Michelle Kimball, an inter-cultural and comparative religion dialogue by the ISTAC Academic and Research Unit, and last but not least, the ISTAC Monthly Book Forum.

50 participants have attended the event where knowledge and wisdom are celebrated.

The relevance of both the book launch and book discussion is to embrace knowledge about the old Muslim scholars, like Syakh Ahmadou Bamba, who have contributed to Islam.

Furthermore, the book discussion had the panelists, Professor Dr. Kamar Oniah Kamaruzzaman and Assistant Professor Dr. Imtiyaz Yusuf, dissecting the book deeper.

This event also stressed on having a conversation pertaining to different religions, which is also highly encouraged in Islam. Thus, the highlight of the program was the forum on Muslim-Buddhist Conversation, which focused on understanding the different cultures and religions for the sake of tolerance and also as a method of da’wah to spread Islam.

The panelists were Professor Dr. Kamar  Oniah Kamaruzzaman, Mr. Benny Liow, Assistant. Professor Dr. Imtiyaz Yusuf as well as Mr. Kon Chee Min.

With the launch of this eminent event, it is hoped that the understanding of different worldviews and religions would encourage the Muslim Ummah to be open-minded and more tolerant towards others.
