An Associate Professor in the Department of Islamic Law, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws. Dr. Norliah obtained her first degree in Law (LL.B) from the IIUM in 1990. In 1991, she went on to pursue her Master in Comparative Laws (MCL) at the same university and then Ph.D in the field of Family Law in 2004. Her Ph.D thesis was entitled a??A Study on the Malaysian Civil Law Relating to Matrimonial Property After Dissolution of Marriage.a?? The latest book written with other co-authors from Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws IIUM is entitled, Family Law (Non-Muslims) in Malaysia, published by IIUM Press in 2012. She has been actively involved in a number of research projects funded by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education i.e Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Exploratory Research Grant Scheme (ERGS) and Research Acculturation Grant Scheme (RAGS). Currently, she is a principal researcher of FRGS entitled, a??Formulation of Legal Framework for Division of Matrimonial Property After Divorce : Incorporating of Future Business Interesta??.
Apart from supervising Mastera??s and Ph.D students, she has been the coordinator for Family Law 1/ Law 2220 a?? from 2005 till 2012, also the coordinator for Family Law and Ethics Unit (FAME) from 2008-2010 and is currently the coordinator for Teaching in Learning of AIKOL.
