Madam Zariah Abu Samah obtained her Bachelors Degree in South East Studies from the University of Malaya, and thereafter accepted a Credit Executive post at Maybank. She headed several banking positions at Maybank and Maybank Islamic Berhad from 1983 till 2013, which are as follows:-

She embarked on furthering her studies on Islamic Banking and Finance at IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance Master Programme 2011/2012 and graduated in 2014. She was awarded "The Best Student Award" at IIUM 30th Convocation 2014.
Presently, she is an Academic Fellow at IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance and also holds the post of Head of Programme for Master Programme since January 2015 till to date.
