Expert Profile


Mohd Fuad Miskon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marine Science, Kulliyyah of Science at International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He is currently a researcher at Institute of Oceanography and Maritime Studies (INOCEM). He lead the INOCEM from 2018-2023 and a leader of IIUM Flagship Project – School for Sustainable Marine Livelihood from 2019 till present. He received his B.Sc. in Marine Science and M.Sc. in Marine Pollution from University Malaysia Terengganu in 2008 and 2011, and received his Ph.D. in Bioscience, specific on aquatic pollution, from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2015. His research focuses generally on marine biogeochemistry and aquatic pollution impact, specific in heavy metal, rare earth elements and microplastics. 

He has led and been involved in various research projects under internal university grant (RIGS, Flagship RIGS, etc), national grant (LRGS, FRGS etc), international (SRP Japan etc) and private (sponsored research). He is also registered as Malaysian Department of Environment Subject Specialist in the field of Aquatic Pollution. His research and project have won several medal and award e.g. silver medal in IIUM Research, Invention and Innovation Exhibition 2013, bronze medal in Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition 2016, Gold Award in Karnival Inovasi UTeMEX 2021 and Gold in IIUM Innovation and Research Exhibition 2022. He has published more than 30 articles in internationally recognised journals with current h-index of 5.
