Bachelor in Halal Industry Management

INTRODUCTION

Muslims’ aspiration to earn halal income and use halal commodities for food and non-food uses have provided the pivotal impetus for contemporary academics and industries to create numerous halal products and services. From an Islamic standpoint, this development provides a valuable opportunity for Muslim nations to capitalize on and sustain. Upon deeper reflection, it also reflects Muslims’ popular sense of asserting the Islamic value system in dietary and non-dietary goods and services. Accordingly, the challenge to Muslim academic institutions such as ours is to produce human capital necessary for ensuring that halal goods and services are not simply “a matter of processes” and “packaging” but instead conform to the value-framework of Islam in their entirety. To fulfil the above requirement of the nation and the Ummah, and to realize the strategic goal of the University to become a premier institution of higher learning, the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Science (KIRKHS) in collaboration with International Halal Institute of IIUM (INHART) will offer Bachelor in Halal Industry Management starting Semester 1 2021/2022.

 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES  

  1. To train students majoring in halal products and services.
  2. To equip students with adequate knowledge of Shar`i-compliant halal products and services.
  3. To develop students' ability to differentiate halal products from those who are not.
  4. To equip students with skills to ensure the Shari`ah conformity of products and services in halal industries.
     

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the programme, students should be able to:
1. Knowledge: Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the field of halal products and services.
2. Practical Skills: Use relevant skills learned about halal products.
3. Social Skills and Responsibilities: Cooperate with others and apply knowledge in a socially responsible manner for the progress of the nation and the Ummah.
4. Values: Demonstrate commitment to ethics, autonomy, and professionalism in the workplace and everyday life.
5. Communication, Leadership and Team Skills: Communicate with people from a diverse range of backgrounds with empathy, infusing leadership qualities.
6. Problem Solving and Scientific Skills: Analyse issues and demonstrate skilfulness in planning, executing and evaluating strategies and action plans.
7. Information Management and Lifelong Learning Skills: Use the necessary skills in information management and apply effective strategies for lifelong self-improvement.
8. Managerial and Entrepreneurial Skills: Apply basic managerial and entrepreneurial skills in relevant fields.
9. Integration: Use Islamic principles to analyse and evaluate juridical opinions on halal products and services.
