Dr Mohamad Hanif graduated with BOptom from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1999. He graduated with a Master in Health Sciences (Optometry) UKM in 2011. He served as an optometrist in the industry for 11 years before venturing into academia. He was awarded as 'The Best Professional Optometrist' by Focus Point in 2010. Prior to IIUM, he served as a lecturer at the UCSI and National Institute of Ophthalmic Sciences. He obtained his PhD from UKM in the year 2020 with a cross-discipline project entitled “Tear Lipid Profile and its Association to Clinical Assessment of Dry Eye”. The project involves clinical and laboratory studies which lead to the identification of tear lipid biomarkers for dry eye with HPLC-MS-ESI. Currently, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the Kulliyyah of Allied Health Science. He is a life member of the Malaysian Association of Optometry. His research interest includes ocular surface, dry eye, contact lens and clinical optometry.
