Expert Profile
Professor Dr. Mohammad Naqib Ishan Jan started his career as a lecturer in 1997. Since then, he served in various teaching capacities in the IIUM. He started by teaching Contract Law, Jurisprudence and Tort Law. Later, he developed an interest in International Law and introduced a number of International Law courses at postgraduate level at the Harun Hashim Law Centre of IIUM. Prof. Mohammad Naqib served in the advisory committee of Mahathir Mohamad Global Peace School 2014. He also served as the Head of Research Unit at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Law. In the period between 2005 and 2008, he served as the coordinator of AIKOL's Legal Line. In 2014, he was an associate editor of the IIUM Law Journal. He is a member of the Advisory Board of International Journal of Business, Humanities and Technology. He is also a member of the World Trade Organization and Globalization Unit, and the International Law and Maritime Affairs Unit (ILMA) at IIUM.
Prof. Mohammad Naqib has extensively contributed through his writings on different aspects of International Law, Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, Regulation of the Use of Force in International Relations, International Dispute Resolutions, International Arbitration, International Criminal Law, International Refugee Law, Migration, Corporate Social Responsibility and Mediation. He has the credit of publishing around 40 research articles in national and international journals and eight books. His expertise in the area of Diplomacy and International Law of Armed Conflicts is sought after by the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Legal Unit of the Ministry of Defence. Prof. Mohammad Naqib is presently working as a Professor at IIUM, coordinator of the Dispute Resolution Research Unit and a member of the IIUM's Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court. In 2009 he got the Quality Research Award (Kulliyyah Level) and Promising Researcher Award at both Kulliyyah and University level. Twice, he was short listed for the Best Teacher Award.
