Expert Profile
Dr. Hazlina is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, IIUM. She obtained her Ph.D (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) in 2012 from the Loughborough University in the research of active railway vehicle suspensions. She completed her B. Eng in Mechatronics(Honours) and M. Eng. (Electrical) from University Technology Malaysia in 1998 and 2000 respectively. She became an academic staff in International Islamic University Malaysia in 2003. Her current research interests are in the areas of vehicle active suspension , assistive systems for disabilities and also engineering rehabilitation.
Her research in active suspension focuses more on controller strategies for actuators. Meanwhile, her current research in assistive systems for disabilities and rehabilitation is focused on helping individuals who are visually impaired and other developmental disabilities in learning skills, aiding stroke patients to regain some of their movement abilities through robot-assisted and virtual rehabilitation. Dr. Hazlina is also actively involved in robotics training for teachers and also for STEM.
