Expert Profile
Dr Yasir Mohd Mustafah obtained his Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering from University of Southampton, UK in 2004. After graduation, he worked as an engineer in Flextronics Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Toyota Motor (Malaysia) for a while before joining International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Later, he furthered his studies and earned his Ph.D from the University of Queensland, UK in 2011. His Ph.D research work was on the area of intelligent surveillance system done in collaboration with National ICT Australia.
Currently, Dr Yasir is actively conducting research on Intelligent Surveillance in collaboration with the Royal Police of Malaysia targeting to reduce crimes. Another research that he is currently conducting is on environmental data mapping such as radiation and water quality using unmanned agents. He is also working with Proton Holdings Berhad as an advisor for their Autonomous Ground Vehicle projects. Dr Yasir is active in delivering Robotic related courses and workshops.
He is also an active advisor to IIUM Robotic Club and currently advising MARA in their project to set up a robotic-based school. He has authored and co-authored publications in international and local refereed journals and conferences. He has acquired a number of research projects/grants as a principal and co-investigator. Currently, he is the Deputy Dean of Academic Management and Admission Division of IIUM, and Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Mechatronics Engineering.
