Expert Profile
Putri Haryati Ibrahim is an accomplished academic and landscape architect, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She has held numerous academic and non-academic administrative positions, including as the present Head of Department for the Department of Landscape Architecture from 2021-2023, Academic Advisor for the Department of Landscape Architecture from 2019-2021 and 2008-2009, Department Representative in the Kulliyyah Website Committee since 2015, and Examination Committee since 2017.
As an alumna of IIUM, Putri Haryati has remained active in the community, serving as the Moderator of AILAA Landscape Architecture Professional Development Workshop, a study group organized by the Association of IIUM Landscape Architecture Alumni (AILAA) for candidates sitting for the Peperiksaan Ikhtisas Arkitek Landskap. She is also involved in students’ activities such as KAED FEST, ALAM, and ROYAL FLORIA.
Putri Haryati is a Landscape Architect with a wealth of experience gained during her tenure at Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) between 2003 and 2007. Throughout her time there, she played a key role in numerous public participation projects, designing solutions for the benefit of the community in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Her research interests span across landscape architecture, environment, tourism, and recreational planning, with a particular focus on policies and regulations in relation to the built environment in Malaysia. With over 30 journal publications, 4 books, and 3 book-chapters to her name, she has established herself as a highly respected authority in her field. She has also mentored and supervised numerous Masters and PhD candidates, led extensive research and consultancy works in the field of Quantitative Social Research, Urban/Rural Sociology, and Social Policy.
Putri Haryati is a Corporate Member of Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM) since 2017 and she is currently the Assistant Treasurer of ILAM. Putri Haryati has won several prestigious awards for her work. Her team was honored with an Honour Award from ILAM Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA 2018) (Researcher Category) for their research entitled “Rural Landscape Character Framework for Tourism Routes". She also won the Most Promising Academic Award for KAED Takrim Day 2020 and led her team to win a Silver Award at the International Conference on Regional Architecture & Built Environment (seniBINA 2022) organized by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. In 2020, Putri Haryati and her team won a Silver Award at the International, Invention, Innovation & Design Competition 2020 (3iDC2020) organized by Universiti Teknologi Mara, Kedah (31st August 2020), and another Silver Award at the International Research Innovation Solution Exposition (IRIISE) at Expo on University Research Invention, Creation & Innovation (EUREKA) 2018 (14 -16 August 2018) organized by University of Malaya in collaboration with Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT).
Overall, Putri Haryati is an accomplished academic and landscape architect who has made significant contributions to her field through her research, teaching, and community involvement. Her dedication and commitment to her work are reflected in the numerous awards she has won and her continued involvement in the landscape architecture community
