Putri Haryati Ibrahim is an Asst. Prof. that currently works at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She has held several academic and non-academic administrative positions such as Academic Advisor for the Department of Landscape Architecture, KAED (2008-2009) and recently has been re-appointed for the same post (2018 – present). Other than that she was appointed as Department Representative in the Kulliyyah Website Committee (2015 - present), Examination Committee (2017 - present), KAED Bulletin Committee (2015-2016) and Bureau of Sports and Recreation, KAED Social and Welfare Club (2007-2009).
Putri Haryati was the product of IIUM. She was among the first batch of students doing Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). As an Alumni, she has actively helping in “giving back” to the community by becoming Moderator of AILAA Landscape Architecture Professional Development Workshop. It is a study group organize by Association of IIUM Landscape Architecture Alumni (AILAA) for candidates whom will sit for the Peperiksaan Ikhtisas Arkitek Landskap.
As a Lecturer, she is also actively involved with students’ activities such as KAED FEST, ALAM and ROYAL FLORIA. Before joining IIUM, she was a Landscape Architect at Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) from 2003-2007. During her tenure as a Landscape Architect for MBPJ, many of her works involved with public participation and designing for the community of Petaling Jaya. She is interested in the field of landscape architecture, environment, tourism and recreational planning. More specifically, her works examine policies and regulations related to the field of built environment in Malaysia. Most of the researches done by Putri Haryati are in the field of Quantitative Social Research, Urban/Rural Sociology and Social Policy. Her most recent publication are ‘Local residents and tourists’ opinion on the effects of boating activity towards Kilim waterways’ that was published in the International Journal of Sustainable Tropical Design Research and Practice (SCOPUS indexed journal) and ‘Open space policy for landscape development In Malaysia’ in Islamic Relevance in Landscape Architecture that was published by the International Institute of Islamic Thought East and South East Asia & International Islamic University Malaysia.
Putri Haryati is also a Corporate Member of Institute Landscape Architect Malaysia (ILAM) since 2017. Recently she and her team members has won an Honour Award from ILAM Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA 2018) (Researcher Category). The prestigious award was for the research entitle “Rural Landscape Character Framework for Tourism Routes”. The award was presented during the Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards Gala Night 2019. Last year, Putri Haryati and her team was awarded Silver Award for participation in International Research Innovation Solution Exposition (IRIISE) at Expo on University Research Invention, Creation & Innovation (EUREKA) 2018 (14 -16 August 2018) organized by University of Malaya in collaboration with Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT).
