Expert Profile


Dr. Siti Hazariah Abdul Hamid is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She obtained her PhD in Nursing (2019) from the University of Manchester, Master of Community Health Science – Family Health (2012) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bachelor of Health Sciences (Nursing, 2006) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Studies (2024) from IIUM. She obtained a Professional Certificate in Education & Teaching for Nursing Professional from the KPJ Healthcare University College, Nilai Malaysia in 2013. Dr Siti Hazariah Abdul Hamid also served as Head, Department of Special Care Nursing IIUM (2013–2014; 2023–2025), Head of Clinical Skills Centre Kulliyyah of Nursing (2019–2021), and academic coordinator in various capacities. She has extensive expertise in adolescent sexual and reproductive health, parental responsibility in sexuality education, community health nursing, and qualitative research methodologies. Her research integrates both public health and Islamic perspectives, particularly through a Maqasid al-Syariah framework, to address sensitive health topics in culturally relevant ways. She has led and collaborated on multiple national and international research projects funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Yayasan Hasanah, and international partners, focusing on adolescent health, mental health literacy, parental engagement, and healthcare for vulnerable populations. An award-winning educator and researcher, Dr. Siti Hazariah has published widely in indexed journals (Scopus, WoS) and contributed to book chapters, training modules, and community health initiatives. She also serves as a supervisor for PhD and Master’s students, examiner, external assessor, and invited speaker in local and international forums.
