Expert Profile
Dr. Mohammad Norazmi Ahmad is an Associate Professor at International Islamic University Malaysia. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2015. He graduated with Bachelor of Science (Chemical Sciences) and Master of Science (Chemistry) from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Then he was awarded SLAB/SLAI scholarship to pursue his PhD in Chemistry at the UKM. Upon completing his PhD study in Jun 2015, he was offered Assistant Prof at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and has been promoted as Associate Professor within 6 years of services in 2021. Currently, his research interest is more on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) approaches, which are chemometric and computational chemistry, food safety and security, synthesis enzyme/receptor inhibitors using computational chemistry, polymer composite, biocatalyst and water treatment. Up to now (2015-2022), he successfully secured various research and consultation grants such as from Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE), Green Highway Auto-City Sdn Bhd and so on. Since 2019, he had published more than 37 journals, where 25 from them are ISI-Indexed journals. He is also a reviewer for ISI-Index journals, namely Food Chemistry, Scientific Reports, Journal of Molecular Structure, Industrial Crops and Products, Synthetic Communications, and Talanta. In 2020 and 2021, he had been nominated as a Young Research Award (Chemistry) and Junior Researcher Award by the Venus International Foundation and Kulliyyah of Science, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), respectively. Besides active in research and development, he also excels in management level. Previously, he was Head of Drug and Poison Call Centre, IIUM Poison Centre (2020-2021), IIUM Research Unit of Recreational Park (2018-2019), Department Chemistry in Kulliyyah of Science IIUM (2017-2018), and committee in International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART) (2017 and 2021). Currently, he is a Deputy Treasurer and Ahli Lembaga Pentadbir ANALIS (2017-2024), member of Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) (2011-2022), American Chemical Society (ACS) (2021-2022), and Institute Kimia Malaysia (IKM) (2018-2022).
