Expert Profile
Dr. Asnor Azrin Sabuti started his professional career as Assistant Professor under the Department of Marine Science, Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM Kuantan in March 2015.
He started to build-up his experiences as a marine scientist during his tenure at the Marine Ecosystem Research Centre (EKOMAR), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as a full-time Research Assistant in 2008-2012. As researcher, he is trusted to investigate geochemical balance of various elements and radioactive isotopes in ocean and lower atmosphere to study climate change and ocean biogeochemistry. Recently, he obtained his Ph.D through his excellent project on biogeochemical structure and marine productivity status in the southern South China Sea by using radioisotope and other geochemical tracers. The findings of his research have been published in well-known book and journals with high impact factors. His works in ocean radiochemistry has been proved to be recognized through invitation as reviewer in high reputation international journal.
Dr. Asnor is a member of the Malaysian Nuclear Society (appointed as an Auditor for 2013/15 term), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) ASIAN CORE-COMSEA, and UNESCO/IOC-WESTPAC: South China Sea Fluvial Sediments and Environmental Changes (FluSed). He is also involved actively in other marine research activities as a committee member or participant for scientific cruises and symposia organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), JSPS, as well as UKM, and UPM. He was invited to participate in various workshop courses organized by MOSTI, NRE, JSPS and IOC-WESTPAC. He has been awarded a few travelling grants by the JSPS, IOC-WESTPAC and UKM for local and international workshops and meetings.
