Expert Profile

Izihan Ibrahim is a Professional Civil Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia.  Upon graduation with a Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) degree with highest honours in 1986, he was employed as academic tutor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for a year during which he assisted in the teaching and research of hydrology and hydraulics.  In 1989, after a year of intensive study and thesis work at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London, U.K., Izihan graduated with a Master of Science (with Distinction) in Engineering Hydrology.  He then continued his academic career as a lecturer/researcher in hydrology and hydraulics at the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, UKM for three years.

In 1992, he left academia for engineering consultancy when he was employed as an Engineer, first at A.I. Associates for five months and then at HYDEC Engineering, specializing in Engineering Hydrology, Groundwater Engineering, Hydraulic and River Engineering, and Urban Drainage Engineering.  Izihan has been trained by various experts in these fields (from DHI, EMS-I and others) as a numerical/computational modeller of hydrologic and hydrodynamic processes utilizing established models such as MIKE-11, MIKE Flood, MOUSE, WMS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, PCSWMM, MOHID Land, Delft3D, OpenFOAM, Flow-3D.  Over the past 30+ years, he has successfully conducted a number of studies encompassing EIAs, hydrologic-hydraulic analyses and modelling of rivers and drainage systems, as well as design projects for a wide range of applications and clients requiring his specialist knowledge and experience.

Izihan is presently an Academic Fellow at the Department of Civil Engineering, Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia, and has just successfully concluded his PhD study.  He is also the Managing Director of Rho-1 Consultants, an engineering consultancy firm dedicated in providing specialist services through its continuous research and development efforts in the fields of hydrology and hydraulics.
