Expert Profile
Nurhusna Samsudin, graduated with B. Eng (Biochemical-Biotechnology) (Honors) and 2nd degree in Business Administration from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2008. Upon graduation, she joined Biotechnology Engineering Department, IIUM as Research Assistant under project entitle “Quantum Chemical Structure Activity Studies of Anticancer Activity of Seconucleoside Nitrosourea Analogs”. Later obtained her M. Sc. (Engineering) from the same university in 2011 under Biotech Research Grant entitle “Modification and Characterisation of Phytase for Animal Feed Production”. Next, she pursues PhD in Engineering from the Biotechnology department, IIUM, Malaysia in the year 2017 worked on the project entitle “Development of Polycaprolactone Microcarrier with Surface Treatment Using Ultraviolet Ozone System”. In 2018 she joined International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART), IIUM as a research fellow for two years and now working as an assistant professor in INHART starting on July 2020. Dr. Nurhusna is an active researcher in biomaterials, enzyme and molecular modelling and study on health benefits of phytochemical compound particularly from agarwood as an alternative ingredient for halal biopharmaceutical products. She has received a national grant on project to unravelling the prescription in Malay medical manuscript that use agarwood as one of the elements. Dr. Nurhusna is a member of Malaysian Society of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (MaSBiC).
