Islam in Southeast Asia, Thailand, Muslim-Buddhist Relations  

Professor Yusuf teaching and research methodology is based on interdisciplinary approach employing methods from study of Islamic Studies and Religion and Social Sciences with the objective of forming the minds of the students for critical and innovative thinking on topics and issues in the academic study of Religious Studies and Interreligious Dialogue. The objective to build empathetic understanding of religion, social harmony and peaceful coexistence in the age of technological change, human transformation and globalization. He has always been evaluated as a very good teaching and research supervisor by the students.  

He specialises in the study, teaching and researching in the areas of Islam, Study of World’s Religions Comparative Religion and Interreligious Dialogue with a focus on Muslim-Buddhist relations and dialogue; Islam in Thailand and Southeast Asia. And also, Religion and Social Sciences.   

Professor Yusuf has taught in multireligious settings for over 30 plus years at universities and research institutes in the United States, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. And is one of the rare scholar worldwide who specialises in Islam-Buddhism dialogue.
