Expert Profile
Dr. Andi Fitriah Abdul Kadir is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and a member of the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CoExCyS), Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She is an alumna of the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC) at the University of New Brunswick, Canada, where she deepened her expertise in cybersecurity research, with particular emphasis on risk management, malware, and network security.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Andi Fitriah has been actively involved in industry-driven research projects. Her portfolio includes collaborations on the Analysis of Network Channels for the Anti-Child Exploitation System (ACES) with Bulletproof Solutions, and the development of Intelligent Tools for Automated Security Analysis and Risk Management with IBM Security (QRadar) — which focused on user behavior analytics, device profiling, network traffic classification, risk assessment, and mitigation planning. She has also contributed to the advancement of Android malware detection frameworks, focusing on the behavioral analysis of malware families such as adware, SMS malware, ransomware, scareware, and banking malware.
Dr. Andi Fitriah’s dedication to research and teaching excellence has earned her numerous recognitions at both institutional and international levels. Her achievements include Best Paper Awards from IEEE and Springer, the Best Teaching Innovation for Experiential Learning Award, and the IIUM Academic Excellence Award. She has also actively supervised student projects that have received multiple Bronze Awards at the KICT Final Year Project Exhibition.
Beyond research and teaching, Dr. Andi Fitriah is a dedicated mentor, actively coaching IIUM KICT student teams for various cybersecurity competitions. Under her leadership, students have successfully competed in prestigious Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges, including Battle of Hackers, Cyber Heroes, Rawsec CTF, PETRONAS CTF (securing an impressive 2nd place), PwC CTF, i-Hack, Curtin CTF, Siber Siaga CTF, and the ASEAN Student Contest on Information Security.
Her research interests continue to center on digital forensics, network security, malware analysis, machine learning, and privacy engineering. She is also contributing to a national R&D initiative on privacy engineering under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12) — a strategic blueprint designed to enhance Malaysia’s cybersecurity capabilities and digital resilience. In parallel with her academic endeavors, Dr. Andi Fitriah collaborates closely with industry and government agencies on Research and Development (R&D) projects, translating cutting-edge research into practical solutions. She remains committed to advancing the field of cybersecurity while nurturing the next generation of professionals and thought leaders.
