Dr Yasir Mohd Mustafah obtained his Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering from University of Southampton, UK in 2004. After graduation, he worked as an engineer in Flextronics Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Toyota Motor (Malaysia) for a while before joining International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Later, he furthered his studies and earned his Ph.D from the University of Queensland, UK in 2011.
