Faizah Idrus worked as an English teacher for five years before joining the Centre for Languages, The International Islamic University (IIUM) as a lecturer in 1998. She joined the Kulliyyah of Education upon completion of her Ph.D.
She teaches the undergraduate and post graduate courses in the Department of Language and Literacy, KOED for TESL programme. She also supervises Masters and PhD students.
In 2007, she won a medal for the most promising researcher in CELPAD. In 2012, she won the bronze medal in the IRIIE. She was the Head of Research, Kulliyyah of Education from 2015-2017. She held the position of Deputy Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning in June 2018 to December 2018. Then in January 2019-August 2021 she was appointed as the Deputy Dean of Students Development and Community Engagement, at Kulliyyah of Education, IIUM. Her research interests include but not confined to English Language Teaching and Learning, Language, Identity and the community, Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedagogy, Cultural Intelligence and Diplomacy as well as the wellbeing of Indigenous Communities,
