Expert Profile


Dr Lili Marziana Abdullah received her Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering in 2011 from the University of New South Wales, Australia with her thesis "Strategic IT System Development Outsourcing Risks from the Client Perspective". She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Systems, Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT). Dr. Lili Marziana Abdullah started her career as an analyst programmer in Sunchirin Industry (M) Sdn Bhd, a Japan-based manufacturing company, from 1992 to 1993 where she administered and managed the company's electronic data processing functions. From 1993 to 1996, she was a research officer at MIMOS supporting MIMOS as the secretariat for National IT Council, and in Research and Development (R&D) projects planning. Her team was also involved in the corporatization exercise of Malaysian Institute of Microelectronics Systems (MIMOS) to become MIMOS Berhad.
In 1996, she joined Sapura Marketing Sdn. Bhd. where she and her team in Sapura assisted Sapura Telecommunication Services and Distribution Group in strategic planning for the Telecommunication Group and its subsidiaries. Dr. Lili Marziana Abdullah left Sapura in 1998 to join HeiTech Padu Berhad, a systems integration company, where she was assigned to Quality and Risk Management Services focusing on Enterprise-wide improvement projects; among them are Year 2000 Remedial for internal and customers' systems, Quality Management System and Strategic Corporate Risk Management System.
In 2003, Dr. Lili Marziana Abdullah joined the Department of Information Systems, KICT, International Islamic University Malaysia. She has held a few administrative posts such as Head, Centre for IT Advancement (CITA) Academic Coordinator, SUN Academic Initiative Coordinator and Publication Coordinator. Since 1st January 2015, she has been Head of CITA. She has taught Information Technology, Project Management, Systems Analysis and Design, Database Systems I and II, and published 16 papers as the main author and co-author in conferences, journals and book chapters in areas of risk management, human-mobile interaction and knowledge management.
