Expert Profile


Yusof Ismail obtained his accountancy diploma from Institute Teknologi MARA in 1978 before working with an audit firm and then the Bank Examination Department of Bank Negara Malaysia. He left the central bank to pursue his studies and obtained BS Finance from Indiana University, Bloomington, USA and MBA from Murray State University, Kentucky, USA. He worked with a construction firm for approximately six months before joining Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences of International Islamic University Malaysia in 1986. He left for Bradford Management Center, UK in 1992 to research into strategic planning. He served as the first coordinator of the e-platform of bachelor's degree in business before serving as coordinators of entrepreneurship and industry attachment of the Kulliyyah. He supervised 28 master's project papers and a doctoral dissertation. He authored and edited books and translated a number of works from English into the vernacular, Bahasa Malaysia. He contributed seven book chapters. Yusof served as alternative member and full member of the technical committee and working groups related to Malaysia Sharia-compliance standards: MS 2400: Part 1: 2010, MS 2400: Part 2: 2010, MS 2400: Part 3: 2010, and MS 2610:2015. He has published his work in a number of reputable journals such as Employee Relations, International Journal of the Information Systems for Logistics and Management, International Journal of Management Research and Review, Journal Corporate Ownership & Control, Journal of Basic and Applied Scientific Research, Journal of Technical Education and Training, Journal of International Business and Entrepreneurship Development, Management Journal of Contemporary Management Issues, Middle-East Journal of Scientific Research and World Applied Sciences Journal. The academic served as reviewers for Emerald journals, Malaysia Management Review and International Journal of Economics, Management and Accounting. His numerous research projects were funded by internal grants from the university as well as an external grant from the Ministry of Higher Education.

Presently, Yusof teaches undergraduate courses in areas related to his research interests.
